patrick messier
After studying industrial design Patrick Messier worked for a Canadian firm developing aircraft interiors, furniture, electronics and even medical products. Messier's approach to design is based on the control of aesthetics and on the understanding and mastering of the manufacturing processes. Products (objects, documents, images, buildings, etc) are constantly interacting with humans. They communicate with us. They provoke emotions, suggest uses, inspire ambiance and reflect comfort, strength, elegance and even performance. The messages they send play on people's perceptions. Messier takes responsibility for mastering and clarifying the set of messages delivered by the products to establish a fitting geometric vocabulary. To make a real connection with the consumer, every product must have some sensuality, despite the rigidity of certain geometric shapes. On the other hand, to maintain emotional balance, fluid shapes must of necessity be structured. Messier's Mamma chair is the perfect example of these theories.
