Computers have developed techniques to display a three dimensional form a on a two dimensional screen. Through an economical use of marks with their own set of codes, they allow a viewer to look at the inside and outside of an object at the same time, and from many angles simultaneously. These visual shorthands are only mediators, but they are subtly influencing ideas about drawing boundaries, and ways of seeing space.
