Jack Pierson works with a variety of media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, installations and film. Through exploration of celebrity, melodrama and loneliness, Pierson articulates these through an emotional narrative manifesting lost love, sexual longing, faded glamour, fleeting moments, and melancholic and sentimental reflection. Jack Pierson has had solo and group shows at major institutions such as Aspen Art Museum, MCA Chicago, The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), MoMA PS1, New Museum New York, ICA London, Hammer Museum Los Angeles, The Bass Museum of Art in Miami and collected by major institutions such as MCA Chicago and Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) New York. For HENZEL STUDIO, Jack Pierson translated an automatic drawing into a rug design. The drawing strokes have been accentuated though lower pile heights and different proportions of silk and wool have been attributed to the two different colors for contrast.
