The designers’ initial idea was to make a shelf, but it seemed a shame to put anything on it when it was done. Maybe it’s a sculptural piece. They leave this dilemma, and the challenge of what object to put on it, to the new owner. It conjures images of speed, celestial bodies, and cosmic forces. One could imagine riding on it through space, so it has been named “Sonic Surfer.”
