Gagnon graduated from the Architecture School at Cornell University and has worked for both Frank Gehry and Gaetano Pesce as well as other firms. In 2002 he opened his own studio in Brooklyn, New York. Whether in the realm of product, architecture or performance, Matt Gagnon’s projects reflect his abiding interest in proportional relationships and the interaction between individuals and their surroundings. A sense of motion is inherent in the designs no matter how stationary the object. The Studio uses small-scale furniture projects to explore new materials and to study their potential for large scale architectural contexts. In learning the limits and advantages of a diverse range of materials, Matt Gagnon Studio has built an arsenal of innovative possibilities that can be purchased ready-made or customized to individual specifications.
